Create Your Own Impact Circle
Every one of us faces moments of growth, change, and challenge—whether it’s pursuing a new career path, starting a business, navigating a life transition, seeking deeper purpose, or simply wanting to add more joy to everyday life. These journeys are meaningful, but they can also feel overwhelming when faced alone.
An impact circle is an intentional gathering of like-minded individuals focused on a common mission of supporting each member’s needs with synergy and wisdom that comes from collaborative engagement. It is a small, trusted group of people who come together to listen, encourage, and support one another to:
• Share your goals, challenges, or dreams openly.
• Receive diverse perspectives and insights you may not see on your own.
• Stay accountable to the steps that move you forward.
• Celebrate progress—both yours and your circle’s.
• Find strength and inspiration in community.
Impact Circles are about walking beside one another, creating momentum, and multiplying the courage it takes to step into your next chapter. No matter what you are facing—personally or professionally—your circle becomes a source of clarity, encouragement, and resilience.
Guidelines for Creating an Impact Circle
1. Think of a topic you would like to focus on, such as business development; healing from trauma; personal development; life transitions; philanthropy; parenting; caring for aging parents; caring for children with special needs; neighbor- hood harmony; diversity, equity, and inclusion; career or professional advancement; remote work; work-life integration; financial literacy; physical or nutritional wellness; emotional or spiritual connections.
2. Consider like-minded people who might have an interest in the selected topic and could personally benefit from connecting and collaborating with each other.
3. Create a short list of people who you already know would be interested in exploring the topic and people you think might be interested.
4. Consider whether you would like to start with a small group of three to five people or whether you would feel more comfortable with a larger group of six to ten people.
5. Gather contact information, including email addresses and cell phone numbers, and create a list of potential members.
6. Connect with potential members, either by phone or email, and share your initial thoughts and ideas about creating an impact circle for your selected topic.
7. Decide on a date and time, and book the first meeting at a central location, such as a coffee shop, restaurant, private meeting room, library, office, or home setting.
8. Use your first meeting to brainstorm the concept for your impact circle, including hopes and goals for members and the whole group.
9. Develop an initial mission statement for your impact circle.
10. Decide on a structure for meetings, including the ideal number of members, how often to meet, where to meet, potential financial costs, and what is expected of members.
11. Host regular meetings at determined intervals to focus on individual member needs first and then collective group goals.
12. Revisit the mission statement and goals to ensure expectations are being met for all members.
13. Solicit input from all members about how your impact circle is enhancing their lives.
14. Share success stories and celebrate when personal and group goals are achieved.
15. Consider donating time, treasure, or talent to an organization that resonates with members to make a positive impact.
